Trained interpreters give everyone a voice Mami was founded in 1998 as a not-for-profit patient advocacy agency, providing limited-English-proficient (LEP) patients better access to care. Today, with offices in Albany, Syracuse, and Utica, MAMI employs over 150 trained interpreters who work with hospitals, medical centers, and other healthcare, social services, and legal institutions along the thruway corridor of New York State.
